Trip to Akita with the Checketts

We decided to go to Akita to visit the Branch before the snow flies.  Randy and Akiko Checketts live in Akita and have become good friends of ours.  Randy served in Gary's mission 40 years ago.  He married Akiko who is Japanese and after living in America for many years, they now live in Akita where their 3 girls were raised.  They both speak English so I love to be with them.  Randy loves to ride his bike just like Gary so we went a day early and stayed at their house so that the men could ride their bikes the 12 miles around a nearby lake twice while Akiko and I walked about 1/2 way around the lake.
Akiko tutors children and has many books in her school room which is where we slept on futons on the floor.  We found this English book that we used to read to our kids.
Mr. BYU is ready for the ride.

At the end of the ride/walk, we stopped by this Buddhist Temple for a picture.

Randy HAD to take a dive in the lake before he could go home.
This lake is the deepest lake in Japan.
The next morning at the church, the 4 sisters serving in
Akita had prepared  this cute cake for my birthday.

Sisters Stubbs, Watanabe, Inoue & Kitade.

This young man is being taught and wants to be baptized.
He needs permission from his family first which he is having a hard time getting.
