Elder Ohira and Elder Lay, our AP's waiting at the airport for the plane to arrive. They always take care of the luggage for incoming missionaries which is very kind and helpful.
It is very cold in Sendai but my "polar bear" coat does the trick. Waiting in the airport for the Sakamotos to arrive. We knew them at BYU after we were married and living in Wymount Terrace. It is nice to have so much in common with them.
The Senior Missioinaries (Thomas and Jahana) who work in the office came to greet them, too.
They spent the night in our home and received some training the next morning before leaving for Ishimonaki where they will serve their entire mission.
We drove with them to Ishinomaki to get them settled in their apartment. This apartment was the Sister's apartment before the earthquake. No one has lived there since missionaries were moved out of this area. Sister Sakamoto and I are standing by the heater to get warm. The apartment was very cold. We made sure there was enough fuel for the room heater to last a few weeks and left them to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road and find their way to the church with their navigator on their own. They had an appointment with the Branch President that evening and they have found ways to bless that Branch ever since.
